Current Situation

It is now widely known and recognised South East Queensland is amidst the worst drought on record with dams at historic lows.

In June 2006, the Queensland Water Commission was created as an independent statutory authority responsible for achieving safe, secure and sustainable water supplies in South East Queensland and other designated areas.

Presently, we are experiencing the implementation of continuing levels of water restrictions to drive down the region's water consumption.
