Ipswich City CouncilSaving Water - Business LogicIn 2006/2007, more than 5.7 billion litres of town water in Ipswich was used in commercial, industrial, institutional and other workplace environments. Although a large percentage of this is used in air conditioners and industrial processes, a significant portion is consumed by staff and patrons in ablution facilities, cleaning, gardening and food preparation. Today's fast-paced, competitive environment means businesses look towards efficiency, cost minimisation and hence increased profitability. In many cases, workplaces that have addressed water efficiency within their premises have reduced their operating expenses through reduced water bills, lower energy costs for associated water use (i.e. heating and cooling) and contributed towards reducing the demand for town water and associated environmental benefits.
