Ipswich City CouncilWastewater ServicesIpswich Water is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of wastewater services based on our wastewater strategy. The strategy's priority is efficient, high quality and environmentally responsible wastewater treatment and disposal, with an emphasis on waste minimisation and recycling. Wastewater is 99.7 per cent water, and by far greatest volumes originate from showers, baths and washing machines. Wastewater also comes from the discharges of our licensed commercial and industrial customers. Wastewater is collected via our sewerage system and transported to our four Wastewater Centres where it is treated to a high standard and returned to the waterways or recycled for ‘fit for purpose' applications. Our Wastewater Centres now provide Recycled Water Services to non-residential water users to diversify Ipswich's bulk water supplies and reduce the demand on town (potable) water. This contributes to our objective of a sustainable water future for Ipswich.
