Water Restrictions

Level6Level 6 Water Restrictions

The Queensland Water Commission has introduced Level 6 Water Restrictions, effective 23 November 2007.

Councils affected by these restrictions include Ipswich City Council, Beaudesert Shire, Brisbane City, Caboolture Shire, Shire of Esk, Gatton Shire, Gold Coast City, Kilcoy Shire, Laidley Shire, Logan City, Pine Rivers Shire and Redcliffe City.

Residents have led the way in making every drop count with their continuing efforts to Target 140. In fact, you have dramatically cut your water use to the point where you are now recognised as world class water savers. Well done! Now however, with the introduction of Level 6 restrictions, Ipswich Water is working with businesses to ensure efficient water use. Saving water is everyone's business and the Level 6 water restrictions have been implemented with this in mind.

Focus on Level 6 Restrictions

  • businesses must achieve required savings, making permanent changes to imporved water efficiency and save on their water bills; and
  • residents need to continue to save.

Visit the Queensland Water Commission for more detailed information concerning Level 6 water restrictions and their implications for residents, business and government.

Implement water savings at work

While you're now world class water savers in your homes, we're asking everyone to replicate these water saving behaviours at work. It's the simple things that can really make a difference. For example:

  • set the air conditioner temperature to 24 degrees and you'll use less water in the cooling tower and save on energy use too;
  • report leaks in taps, pipes and hoses; and

There are many simple ways you can save at work and the Queensland Water Commission has developed tips and hints to assist you. To find out more visit the Water At Work website.

Target 140 is a new campaign to achieve a regional average water use target of 140 litres per person per day.
