Ipswich City CouncilWhat Council, Business and Industry are Doing to Save WaterHow is business and industry playing their part? Our current water crisis and escalating levels of water restrictions are continuing to change the landscape for our business and industry. Being water smart is the new ‘business as usual' practice as non-residential water users now have long term obligations to bring water efficiency to their operations. Under the Water Act 2000 and the Wild Rivers and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2006, identified non-residential water users have permanent obligations to prepare and implement Water Efficiency Management Plans (WEMPs), which also includes annual reporting requirements. With Level Water Restrictions in place, business industry and other non-residential water users must achieve real savings for the long-term. For more information on Water Restrictions for residential and non-residential water users, please visit the Queensland Water Commission (QWC). How is Council saving water?Council is undertaking a number of measures, as part of its Drought Managment initiatives to drive down water consumption within our own operations:
Ipswich City Council is pro-actively involved in regional drought management planning and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a secure water supply for our future.
